Ballet flats are a particular design or style of footwear that are similar in appearance to ballet shoes but are designed for everyday or dress wear. By there very nature they are minimalist in design, so do not have any arch-supporting features built into them like some other footwear designs do. That is not necessarily a bad thing, it is just a characteristic of the design of the shoe.
